Saturday proved to be a dirty, dismal day for Oakleigh Amateurs as the three teams could only manage 11 goals between them with the U/19s contributing 7 of those. The seniors made the journey to Mt.Eliza to tackle Peninsula Old Boys were left embarrassed as the Pirates held them goalless until the final quarter in a 77 point thumping.
There were few highlights for Oakleigh until the final term when Ben Still and Trevor Bromley broke the goal drought. Peninsula are always dangerous at home and the Oaks were simply not good enough and have now slipped back closer to the relegation zone. Pat Ioannidis, Tim Doherty and Kevin Holden battled hard for Oakleigh.
The reserves suffered an even bigger loss in the early game, having no answers to a rampant Pirates losing by 114 points. Rod Gonzalez kicked Oakleigh’s 2 goals with Kevin Harris, Josh Abela and Scott Johnstone among the best.
The U/19s paid St.Bedes/Mentone a visit and had their bubble burst by 10 goals and they too struggled to keep pace with their opponents. Goals were shared among 7 players with Craig O’Meara, Corey Moore and Lucas Cloke among the best.
