Oakleigh put the disappointment of the last two weeks behind them as they took on Kew at Scammell Reserve on Saturday. Still struggling with player numbers the Oaks were, nevertheless, determined to put some space between themselves and the relegation zone and this was obvious early as the Krushers booted the first 4 goals before Kew could answer. The Bears rallied with 3 goals in reply but the Oaks went to the first break with a 14 point lead. Kew continued their fightback in the second term but Oakleigh settled and a late goal before the half-time bell had them 10 points up at the long break.

Oakleigh took control of the game in the third quarter running the Bear defence ragged booting 6 goals to Kew’s 1 and took a 39 point lead into the final change. A further 3 goals to 2 in the last term had Oakleigh 48 points up at the final bell. Aaron Cloke was dominant up forward for Oakleigh kicking 7 goals with Tim Doherty and Zac Mousoulis adding 3 each. Trevor Bromley, Liam Gillard and Jack Davidson were among Oakleighs best.

The reserves game proved a one-sided affair as an undermanned Oakleigh, which featured 6 U/19s players fresh from their own game, struggled to keep up with a superior Kew outfit. Despite their efforts, the Oaks were no match for the Bears and were humbled by 104 points. Jake Benoiton booted 4 goals for Oakleigh with Leroy Moellor, Jack Van De Ven and Pat Di Siervi were in the Oaks best.

The early game saw the Krushers U/19s take on Mazenod and also bounce back with a win despite their own woes with player numbers. A 4 goal to 1 first term set the young Krushers on the way and they went from strength to strength as the game progressed before the final siren had them 40 point victors. Anmol Malhotra and Lucas Cloke kicked 3 goals each for Oakleigh with Brodie Weymouth and Corey Moore adding 2 each. Kevin Baras, Jake Ford and Koby Sikorski were among the young Krushers best.
