The VAFA Premier C season started in earnest on Saturday and Oakleigh, buoyed by a good pre-season and quietly confident, ventured to Victoria Park to face the 2015 D1 premiers and newly promoted Kew. Keen to make a statement, the Oaks leapt out of the blocks posting the first goal inside the opening minute and attacking relentlessly before Kew could settle and, had they been more accurate, may have gone to the first change more than a goal in front. With the match being played at a frantic pace, Kew found their feet and took second quarter honours going to the long break with a 6 point advantage.

It was after the break that the hosts took charge booting 5 goals to Oakleighs 2 and going into the last change with a 26 point lead. Any hope of a Krusher resurgence in the last were snuffed out as Kew ran away with the game kicking 6 goals as the Oaks struggled to keep up adding 2 and slumped to a 52 point loss. Aaron Cloke stood out up forward with 5 goals for Oakleigh with Shane Borland and Dermot Cleary among the best. Zac Barrett played his 50th game for the Krushers, while Trevor Bromley continues with breaking records with his 275th game in a Krusher guernsey.

In the early game, an inaccurate first half had the Krushers in trouble by the main change as a sharp Kew outfit ran the Oaks ragged to run out 91 point victors. Jack Van De Ven booted 2 goals for Oakleigh with Jim Hunt and Josh Revere among the best. Mason Ansell and Chris Grant played their 50th game for the Krushers.

The U/19s visited De La Salle at Waverley Oval and found themselves wanting as a strong home side showed the way. Brodie Weymouth, Sam Ciavarella and Kevin Baras worked hard for the Oaks.
